Pagham v Steyning (May 16, 2009)
Pagham v Steyning
Pagham’s season is up and
running with an emphatic win over Steyning.
Steyning won the toss and
decided to field but Pagham got off to a good start with Will Rolls (75) and
Chris Hayden (26) putting on 72 for the first wicket.
A brisk 27 from Craig
Primmer saw Pagham reach 127 for two, but the familiar middle-order collapse
meant that were 164 for eight with four overs left.
But a hard hiting 35 from
Matt Colban ensured Pagham reached 210 for eight.
Steyning got off to a poor
start with good bowling from Craig Primmer and Mike Hales.
Wicketkeeper Green took a
superb one-handed catch to remove Buckley and skipper Stuart Rutter took a
stunning slip catch off brother Sean to remove Lamb.
Only McNiff (43) showed any
resistance to the consistent and hostile Pagham bowling.
Craig Primmer finished with
four for 25, Jo Metz three for five and Sean Rutter two for 24 as the hosts
ended 113-run winners.
