Pagham’s Prize Performance – Lurgashall six-a-side tournament (July 12, 2009)
Sunday 12th July - Pagham’s
Prize Performance – Lurgashall six-a-side tournament
Pagham
travelled to Lurgashall to take part in their six-a-side tournament – and came
out on top.
Pagham had
few problems winning their group, beating Ebernoe, Lurgashall and Dunsfold.
They then
met Liss in the semi-final and restricted them to 53 in five overs, which they
reached with two balls to spare.
This then
put them in the final against 2008 winners Midhurst who batted first and were
all out for 50. Although Pagham lost Jo Metz cheaply, Wayne Green smashed a
quickfire 25 and retired. Matt Colban and Craig Primmer scored well but a
nail-biting finish saw Pagham needing one run to tie or two to win off the last
ball.
Again after
a long delay to determine the rules, Colban hit a four to see Pagham home to
their first trophy of 2009. All six Pagham players made contributions and
celebrations at the Cardamom Bay Indian restaurant followed.
